We are excited to announce the latest platform compatibility for uGet and that is Android. uGet now comes as an app for Android to be used in both Phones and Tablets. uGet for Android is currently in the Beta Testing phase but it is very close to ready so we just need a few people to kick the tires to make sure we covered all the angles. uGet for Android is currently on version 1.0.7 so it has had quite a bit of testing already, we are just wanting to address anything that we might have missed. uGet featured on the Linux Action Show PDF Print E-mail

"It's really Awesome and 11 Years of any Open Source application is Extremely Respectable..."

We'd like to thank Chris Fisher & Matt Hartley of the Linux Action Show from Jupiter Broadcasting for featuring uGet as their Desktop App Pick for season 31 episode 03 that aired on March 9th, 2014. The segment was a 4 minutes and 20 seconds long demo of uGet for a lot of the great features. There were a few features that I wish were mentioned (multi-connection, theme chameleoning,  multi-mirror, etc) but nothing to complain about. :)

Anyway, it was great to have uGet featured on the largest Linux Podcast and it just gets us more excited for the future of uGet! Click read more below for an embedded video of the demo.

uGet 1.10.4 Released and a bit of Celebration PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 04 March 2014 19:05 | Written by Michael Tunnell

We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of the latest version of uGet, 1.10.4. We have been able to update uGet in various Repos throughout the Linux community so you should be able to just install or upgrade from your preferred Ditros' supported repository. A few distros are not currently up to date but you can check the status of your preferred distribution by going to the uGet Downloads page and selecting your distro from there for more details.

Before I get to the "What's New" portion of this blog post I wanted to first explain the "bit of Celebration" part of the title. This year marks the 11th Year of uGet, that's right, uGet has been available to the Linux community for over 11 years now and we are not slowing down, we are excited for the future of uGet! If you're excited too then please consider donating to the project. :) (blog post about the donation drive)

Updated on March 5th, 2014:

Earlier today someone asked if we had any screenshots of older versions of uGet and I thought "well that actually might be cool to upload all of the screenshots to the uGetdm.com Gallery...how could have I not of thought of that before?" So I did just that, I have uploaded screenshots of multiple versions and when I have time I would like to do more but for now there are screenshots for versions 1.10.4, 1.10.3, 1.7.6, 1.6.0, 1.5.0, 0.8, and 0.5.

Now for the What's New + some info about uGet's future...

You may or may not...well probably not actually...be aware that the uGet project has been around for over 11 years! uGet started in January 2003 and has been constantly and consistently improving the app and landscape of Linux Download Managers. Throughout the 11 Years, we have never had a donation drive before and I thought it might be about that time to have one...

A Lot Updates to uGetdm.com PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 04 March 2014 05:30 | Written by Michael Tunnell

We are making a lot of progress with the project recently which includes many things like releasing another version with some new features, updating uGet in various Repositories across the Linux World (that was a lot more effort than I expected) and because of this progress I thought it would be a good idea to do some updates to the website.

Updated on March 12th, 2014:

So far today, I have updated the About page a bit, updated the FAQs to reorganize them and add not FAQs, and finally the next thing on the agenda is the Documentation section. :)

Updated on March 10th, 2014:

I have just finished creating the new "Contribute Translations" page that will explain to translators or future translators how to participate in the translation / localization of uGet via Transifex.

Updated on March 9th, 2014:

I just finished the new Contributions section / menu for contributing various things to the uGet project...though there are some more pages to add to this section. I'm extra happy about this because I finished this just in time for uGet to be featured on the Linux Action Show. :)

Updated on March 7th, 2014:

I have just added a new Changelog page to the uGet website, I am also working on some more new features to the site today.

Updated on March 5th, 2014:
